I've been playing around with some different colors lately & quite liked what I came up with today.
Lid - TSS Oh Precious Patience
Crease - TSS Against the Current
Liner for top & bottom - TSS Far Too Free
Mascara - Silk Naturals Brown
I'm not wearing any foundation so you'll have to excuse the visible shine on my forehead.
Well, I've just been informed by Holly, the owner of Archetype that my Nov 15 order appears to have gone astray. However she will be resending it tomorrow along with my order from Jan 8 so she's still a couple weeks behind on shipping BUT she is accessible by phone.
It feels like forever since I've posted anything & I guess it has been a couple months. Amazing how life gets away from us. I did take some photos of the e.l.f. mineral eyeshadows & lipsticks but they didn't turn out well. I will say however that I was impressed with the quality given the price. The lipsticks I got are Cool Coral, Pouty Petal and Prime Plum. They are moisturizing and last fairly well. For some reason these have never navigated beyond my computer desk however they do get applied frequently when I'm sitting here so I guess that says something.
Also, I received my 10 color eyeshadow prize from Earthen Glow Minerals. Guess I really should have taken a photo of those. I'm really liking them & my favorites so far are Oz, Trance and Earthen Plum.
I'm currently waiting on an order from Archetype Cosmetics and have to say I'm a bit disappointed this time around. The website indicates that credit cards won't be charged until the order is processed. My card was charged mid November - within a couple days of placing the order. I was excited about getting things so quick. Well, Dec 21 rolled around & I went to retrieve mail from my US mailbox. In my mind the reason for the order dealy was that I hadn't been down to pick up mail. Imagine my dismay when not only was the package not there but when I checked my order back home I discovered I'd had it mailed to my home in Canada. An email & several days later I heard back from Kelli that the order should be mailed out shortly. I have also talked to Kelli and she confirms it has been mailed but I'm still waiting.... hopefully it will be here tomorrow or Monday.
I was browsing the web tonight & came across this site on myspace for Archetype Cosmetics. It has larger photos of all Holly's colors!!! The colors can be difficult to see on the retail website so this was quite a find & I thought I'd better share it.
There is a God in the Post Office. This is one of the kindest things
I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a
beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my
4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she
missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey
got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could
so she dictated these words:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you
in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my
dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim.
I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she
is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith
and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then
Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said
it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That
afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days
later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought
He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch
addressed, 'To Meredith, 'in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside
was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside
front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On
the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays
in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies
in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending
it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to
remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you
write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked
her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love, God
Got this email from a friend today & since I know I'm not the only dog or child lover out there I had to share it.
This is my second day wearing some of Dayna's shadows and I am definitely impressed. I've been using mineral makeup for about 5 years and have more samples and full size eyeshadows than I can count. My nieces love me and call me the makeup lady because I'm always giving them my extras.
I came across Dayna's Minerals from another Vox blog back in April and was very intrigued. At that time she had been selling minerals to her friends but wasn't really taking orders. Finally the blush & eyeshadow charts went up on her new mineral blog & I was stoked. Now I could see the colors which went with her daily looks. And there were lots of daily looks to capture my attention. The one that finally got me to order was fiery, luscious and winey. I chickened out on Fiery cause I don't usually do well with oranges. So I substituted Rose Gold (a staple in Dayna's looks) and added Hazy, Crazy, Miss Gigi, Poy-ple, Iced Sugar Plums and Haute Stuff. I also ordered samples of Coral Breeze and Sunset blushes and some foundation samples.
My package arrived last week and the colors were even better in person. My first day included Rose Gold, Hazy and Crazy. Crazy has a neat dark green shimmer to it and I just had to try it! Took the shadows to work with me & promptly got an order for 5 of the colors from a colleague. And this lady is choosy about her colors! Today I placed an order for those colors plus an additional 4 - Fiery (yes, I decided after seeing a few more looks that I NEED to try this one), Gilded Beige, Boring and Plucky Plum. I've also ordered the blush in Sunset - what a beautiful color and the foundation in a combination of Dayna and Dayna light. I found the chart difficult to use but Dayna was great with suggestions. The coverage is light to medium & I usually use at least medium BUT I really like the finish so I've just been using two layers and extra finishing powder.
I'd include photos of my haul but I just purchased a new computer yesterday which has the new Vista operating system. This mean my camera won't upload photos so I'll have to see if I can find a driver which will work. We got a 22" screen with the package and after using an old 17" screen it is amazing. The color and clarity as so incredible. So... will post some photos once I get things figured out. In the meantime - check out Dayna's Minerals
